As with any used vehicle, you are taking the chance on purchasing someone else’s automobile problems. Whenever you go looking to buy a used Volkswagen, there are some checks and tests you can make to quickly determine if you even need to do a more thorough check before handing over your money.

The first thing to do is check the vehicle’s VIN number against its car history report. This will give you an idea of just what kind of work has been done on the car previously. It will also help you know to look at any particular area that may be repaired.

Walk around the Volkswagen and check the overall condition of the body. As well as rust spots, a check to see that colors match between panels and that all seams are equal. Mismatched colors or uneven seams indicate a crash and repair job. Look for uneven lines or ripples in the body. Check the tires to see that they are a known brand and that they are in good condition with no excessive tread wear or chips in the sides.

The interior, especially the driver’s seat, can give an indication of the care the Volkswagen has received. A sloppily maintained interior can indicate a sloppily kept maintenance routine. Test the various systems to see that they are working properly. This includes everything from lights to the monitoring sensors.

If the used Volkswagen seems to pas the initial look, it may then be worthwhile to let a qualified mechanic or the Volkswagen dealership mechanics to check for any other hidden problems. The Volkswagen is a durable and long-lasting mode of transportation so finding a good used one has pretty good odds on it.

Many business owners question whether it is a good business decision for business to lease rather to purchase a Volkswagen van and here we look at some of the important factors we need to consider when making this decision.

There are several good reasons to lease a Volkswagen van. The reason many businesses do so is because they have discovered that it is better not to tie up capital in depreciating assets and that it can have tax advantages.

Some businesses have been reluctant to break with the tradition of owning their own vehicles, often because they have not fully understood leasing, however it is a fact that many of these business owners change their mind once they discover that they can save money, reduce overheads, do not need large up-front payments. They discover that they are freed from worries over depreciating assets and that they can simply turn their vans in at the end of the lease and take out another lease for brand new ones.

There are advantages in not having to pay interest on loans that have been used to purchase depreciating assets, and that all or most of the VAT is refundable. Depending on the type of lease, once it has expired there aretwo major options regarding the old van. These are to turn it in and take out another lease; this is typical of van contract hire; or to purchase it for its residual value by making a balloon payment.

It is important that these options are considered before taking out the lease from a company like www.thevanwarehouse.com, as if proper provisions have not been made for a balloon payment this could come as a surprise. Ideally the amount of the balloon payments should be roughly equivalent to the predicted residual value of the van at the end of the lease.

Volkswagen van leasing is the modern business model and almost two thirds of businesses operate their vans through some type of van leasing arrangement.

When purchasing a used car there are many aspects of vehicles to keep in mind. Certain aspects are more favourable for some people while they may not be so for others. Different types of vehicles run on different types of fuel. For instance you may purchase a vehicle from your local used cars dealer that runs on diesel fuel while another vehicle uses petrol. Both types of fuel have their advantages and disadvantages. It is just important as pick out which one is best for your specific needs.

For many drivers use cars with diesel engines are more appropriate choice. One benefit as that diesel engines are more economical in terms of fuel. Another plus is that diesel engines are a sampler type of engine and therefore in general are more reliable. Today’s latest diesel engines are much more refined with significant improvements over the diesel engines of the past. Used cars with diesel engines will emit lower of mounds of carbon dioxide. As a result the road tax will typically be lower with a vehicle built with a diesel engine. There are some drawbacks of choosing a used car with a diesel engine. Typically these engines are worked hard and will need rebuilt sooner than an engine that uses petrol. If you purchase an older model used car with a diesel engine these vehicles are typically slower. Even though they are more fuel economical, it does cost more for litre of diesel fuel than petrol. If you seek a used vehicle with a diesel engine be cautious as many Sellers also over-price these kinds of vehicles.

Use cars with engines that run on petrol a good choice if you want a smooth ride as well as good performance from your use car. These sorts of vehicles are more responsive and there also quieter than use cars that have diesel engines. Also typically petrol engines are hard are on the environment because of the exhaust emissions. When shopping for a used vehicle, check out motors.co.uk. At this site you are able to search for the vehicle that has you desire characteristics. One place allows you to decide if you want to see models with diesel four petrol engines.

In this short article we will look at the alternatives of leasing or purchasing a car.

There is no hard and fast rule that says one is always better than the other, and the choice of which one depends on people’s specific opinions and circumstances.

The essence of leasing a car is that you are making payments that that reflect the amount that the car depreciated in value over the lease term. For instance, if the purchase price of your car is £20,000 and you decide on a two year car lease with an agreed maximum annual mileage of say 12,000 miles a year, the dealer might estimate that at the end of this period the car will be worth £10,000. This is called its residual value. The difference between the original price and the residual value is the basis for calculating the lease price. Naturally there are additions to this that cover overheads and, as an optional extra, maintenance.

You need to be reasonably confident that your mileage estimates are reasonably accurate, for if you exceed then there will be a surcharge of typically 3p to 7p a mile, however if you over-estimate, then your lease will be more expensive.

Once the lease has ended you simply return the car to the dealer and probably take out a new lease for another brand new car.

Maintenance can be paid for as part of the lease. In that case everything is covered including servicing, consumables such as tyres, and breakdown. This is an added comfort in that you know exactly what your outgoings will be. Alternatively you can opt to take care of the maintenance yourself, but if you do it is essential that you adhere to the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.

With a lease you will never own the car, but it will be entirely under your control and at the end of the lease you can simply walk away from it and not worry about having to sell it. Or, say you get a Volkswagen leasing deal, you could switch from one model to another.

For those who consider the environment along with their vehicular needs, Volkswagen is pursuing several routes to creating electric powered vehicles. Earlier research has convinced the engineers at Volkswagen that the hydrogen fuel cell will not work successfully for an electric car.

While none are as yet on the market, 2011 is the hoped-for release date of the 2012 Touareg Hybrid diesel-electric hybrid. Partnered with Sanyo in developing a battery system that will provide adequate range with minimal weight involvement. After the initial release, Volkswagen plans creating hybrid versions of several of its most popular models such as the Golf, Jetta, and Passat.

The totally electric Volkswagen is also a thing of the future. There is the 2-door E-Up! concept car debuted in 2009. Being a front engine, front-wheel drive, the E-Up! will be powered by a 60 watt all-integrated drive motor. Production is expected to begin in 2013.

If you just can’t wait until the new model all-electric and diesel -electric hybrids come out from Volkswagen, there is the conversion option. It has become something of a fad to convert older Volkswagens, especially the Beetle, into electric cars. There are a variety of conversion kit designs available. As well as plug-in rechargers, solar power cells are another option for obtaining the electric fuel to drive your VW. For a modest price just about any Volkswagen model can be retrofitted to use an electric motor and battery pack. Some removal of liquid-fuel using equipment will be necessary to incorporate the electric option.

There is not really such a thing as an “unpopular” Volkswagen car. The classic Beetle has become a firmly entrenched icon in human society throughout the world. Images of the 1960’s California “Hippy” are hardly complete without a VW Bus painted with paisleys in the background. The American version of the Volkswagen Golf, the Rabbit, cut a unique and recognizable profile among the United States made vehicles.

Conceived by Ferdinand Porsche, the Volkswagen Beetle’s unique form was the first aerodynamically designed in a wind tunnel. Its flowing rounded lines made “The Bug” an instant favorite among those who appreciated a reliable and affordable mode of transportation. While at the time unheard of in the United States, the rear sitting, air-cooled engine was a mechanical novelty. The Beetle’s dependability and cult popularity helped push the Beetle into the position of best selling automobile in the world.

Still, by the beginning of the 1970’s the sales of new Beetles were diminishing. In a bid to re-enthuse new car buyers, Volkswagen introduced a new model vehicle. It was a foray into mainstream automobile design with a water-cooled engine and front-wheel drive. The new model was christened the “Golf” in Europe and dubbed the “Rabbit” in the US and Canada. This angular hatchback design featured both 3-door and 5-door versions.

The mid 1990’s brought a resurgence in Volkswagen popularity when they introduced the “New Beetle.” With the retro look reminiscent of the original Beetle, the new design gained especially in the United States. Despite the competition, Volkswagen continues to bring forth automobiles worthy of their top manufacturing reputation.

There are two types of contract hire; Company Contract Hire (generally referred to as just Contract Hire) and Personal Contract Hire. Both of these options have been around for some time. They have been well tried and have been proven to deliver considerable benefits when compared with the alternative of car purchasing schemed. Here we will look at some of the benefits that these schemes offer.

Contract Hire is appropriate for companies that need to make cars available to their staff, but do not wish the hassle and capital outlay of owning their own fleet of cars. One of the additional advantages for companies is that the car fleet does not appear on their balance sheet where it would be seen as a depreciating asset. Hire and maintenance costs are fixed and spread over the year which is of considerable benefits to companies who need to control their budgets closely.

Personal Contract Hire is ideal for an individual who might under normal circumstances have a company car and therefore be forced to pay additional income tax as a tax on benefits in kind, for example with a simple Volkswagen lease deal.

Just as in the case of businesses, the personal contract hirers would be advantages by not having a depreciating asset. With car maintenance costs being so high nowadays, and the fact that the need for maintenance is often unpredictable, it can be a huge advantage to include maintenance costs with the monthly rental charge so that one is protected from the unexpected. The costs are fixed, so you know exactly what you need to pay throughout the term of the contract.

Normally the costs of both Personal Contract Hire and Contract Hire are flexible and can be tailored to suit the requirements of the individual or the company. Costs are dependent on the number of miles driven along with the duration of the contract. Freeing companies and individuals from the hassle of car ownership can provide a major benefit.

Turning their attention to high performance engines capable of even race conditions is a natural part of Volkswagen’s engineering teams. Volkswagen Motorsport is international, demonstrating daily what the superb design capabilities of the Volkswagen is capable of.

Endurance is the key to successful Volkswagen Motorsports. Victories such as the first and second place wins in the 2009 Dakar Rally show what the high-performance engineering of the Volkswagen clean diesel Race Touareg 2 TDI can do. Facing temperature ranges from 104 degrees Fahrenheit to below freezing in the course of the 9,000-kilometer event over a multitude of demanding terrain, Team Volkswagen lead the way.

Many of the Volkswagen Motorsports events are produced and sponsored by both private VW dealers and national governments. That Volkswagen is so confident of their vehicles they encourage competition among individual Volkswagen Teams as well as all comers from many automotive manufacturers.

Volkswagen Motorsport is not just a German or European phenomena. With the worldwide reputation of the Volkswagen name, auto rallies and derbies abound around the globe. You can view the competition everywhere, from China’s Polo Cup series to the multitude of events in Australia like their win at the Australian Rally Championship. The Volkswagen motorsports circuit extends through Europe, being prominent in Finland, France, and Poland. The United States sports the Volkswagen motorsports with their own Volkswagen Team America.

Volkswagens have triumphed in Argentina and Brazil as well as Peru. Volkswagen Motorsports has a strong showing in Asia from Japan to China. Volkswagen Motorsports rallies are held on every continent except Antarctica. The VW emblem continually crosses the finish lines ahead of the competition.

Since its beginnings in 1937, Volkswagen had built its name with the air-cooled Beetle and the VW Bus. By 1974 this exclusiveness ended with the release of their first water-cooled engine vehicle, the VW Golf. Seeking international appeal for their new vehicle, the Golf was marketed as the “Rabbit” in the United States and Canada and was called the “Caribe” in Mexico. The Golf’s popularity has since made it Volkswagen’s top selling vehicle model and the third greatest worldwide.

The Golf was designed as a front-wheel drive, three-door hatchback although a five-door model, the Varient, was also produced. other incarnations of the Golf include the convertible Golf, called Cabriolet and Cabrio, and the sedan model known variously as Jetta, Vento, and Bora. It is believed that the Golf GTI design was the origination of the informal automotive industry’s term “hot hatch” for the high-performance hatchback style. The VW Golf also came in a diesel engine style and the Volkswagen Caddy, which was a pickup style based on the Golf.

The Mk2 model of the Golf was released in 1984. This variation had a slightly larger wheelbase and greater interior and exterior dimensions that the original Mk1. It also came with four-wheel drive as the Golf Country. The Golf made another leap in 1991 with the release of the Mk3. It was slightly larger than the Mk2 but with the same wheelbase. Notable variations available in the Golf Mk3 were the first Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel engine and a 2.8 L. VR6 six-cylinder engines. The Mk3 won European Car of the year in 1992.

Since the 1990’s there have been 3 more versions of the Golf as well as the beginning production of an electric version of the VW Golf called the “CityStromer.”

What started out a small company designed to make reliable, inexpensive cars affordable by all has, in the years since its founding, become the largest auto manufacturer in Europe. The “Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH” was founded in 1937 and began construction on a new automobile designed by Ferdinand Porsche. By late 1938 the company was renamed as “Volkswagenwerk GmbH.” The factory was located in Wolfsburg.

Barely started, World War II interrupted the automobile production on the Volkswagen. The factory was converted to weapons manufacturing for the duration using forced labor, POW’s, and concentration camp victims. Despite the depredations of war and the military applications it had been put to, the Volkswagen plant was spared.
